Speed Sign Pattern Tool

This is one tool to help you easily identify speed zones using a technique of familiarity. The brain works well when you see something often, then all similar looking items stand out much clearer everywhere you go.

By having a similar shape and colour item constantly in your line of sight, you will naturally get better at finding the same object posted on streets and highways.

So many speed signs today are not always in plain sight and while we may be busy with traffic events in front and behind us we can easily miss a posted speed sign. Speed management catches a lot a riders out during assessments.

This also reminds you to scan and check mirrors every two (2) breaths. How handy is that!

While you are working towards your 6R or 6F assessment, print this image to something around 5x3cm and stick it to your dash or screen somewhere using double sided tape.

Have a “hmmm” whenever you are unsure 

When starting out on a motorcycle, don’t try and fix what you’re doing on the go especially when you do not have a way to complete the task in mind. 

You should never be hoping you can do this or that, rather you should know “I can do this or that”. 

So if you are not certain or lacking confidence you can complete something, stop and re-assess, have a think instead of attempting to fix it on the go. 

If you have doubt or end up hoping, then you have found an area of skill that you need to practice or ask for help on.

Only commit yourself to a task you can complete, including overtaking, crossing roads and tight manoeuvres.
